I have an addiction to spices. I will put spices in everything, whether it's a delicious batch of cookies or pasta. My go-to breakfast (oatmeal, of course) is no exception. In fact, I cannot go a single day without adding delicious fall spices to my oats--rain or shine, summer or winter. The unique flavor combination of the spices, mixed berries, chocolate, and a hint of honey seems quite strange, but it is very enticing (my stomach can attest to that!). While it might require a few extra steps, these High Protein Spiced Chocolate Mixed Berry Oats are definitely worth it in the end!

  • Step 1

Preheat stove to medium-high heat. Combine all ingredients in small saucepan (except for protein powder) and cook for 5-10 minutes or until not too thick, but not too watery. (Protein Powder tends to thicken the texture of the oatmeal, so its important to keep an eye on the consistency of the oatmeal while it is cooking so that after the next step, the oatmeal doesn't get too thick and clumpy).

  • Step 2

Take off the heat and pour into prepared oatmeal bowl. Stir in protein powder until fully incorporated. Put toppings as per liking (I have put chunky peanut butter and chopped soft prunes).
