The vampire obsession stems from movies, novels, and TV shows like Twilight, The Vampire Diaries, and/or Interview with the Vampire. Whether you recite “This is the skin of a killer, Bella” or fantasize about Damon Salvatore (I’m more of a Klaus Mikaelson gal) the supernatural is an intriguing genre. Being a vampire is on most people’s wishlist, even celebrities. Yesterday, actress Anya Taylor-Joy posted a touching anniversary Instagram carousel revealing she secretly married musician Malcolm McRae two years ago. The last image of the carousel has two anatomically-correct heart cakes. “Yes, I am the vampire Lestat,” she wrote in her caption.

What did the anatomically-correct heart cakes look like?

Well, like those hearts you’ve seen in bio class. On a white plate are two hearts in a pool of blood to complete the realistic heart look. It seems very easy to eat, based on this video on X, originally from Taylor-Joy’s Instagram Story.

Almost a bit too easy for the couple.

All jokes aside, I think the true (blood) crime here is not knowing the cake’s flavor profile.

Who is Lestat?

Formerly known Lestat de Lioncourt, blonde and tall Lestat is a vampire of the 1700s from Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles novel series. The series was then adapted into a movie in 1994 in which Tom Cruise plays Lestat alongside Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst. In 2022, it was then adapted into a television series with Lestat played by Sam Reid. Both the movie and series are titled after the first novel of Rice’s series, Interview with the Vampire.

The setting of Interview with the Vampire is New Orleans (a common vampire setting considering the TVD spin-off, The Originals, also takes place there, but I digress), the same city where Taylor-Joy secretly got married. Now, the actress and the fictional character have two things in common, the city of New Orleans and a love of devouring bloody hearts.

I would have to agree with @Rachael_Conrad on X, Anya Taylor-Joy and Malcolm McRae are never going to beat the vampire allegations after this.
